Dr. Peter Jorgsholm finished medical school at the University of Odense, Denmark in 1983, and became a specialist in Orthopaedic Surgery in 1990 and in Hand Surgey in 1994. He did his orthopaedic training and hand surgery training in Sweden.

In 1995 he became consultant in Hand Surgery at the Danish National Center for Hand Surgery and replantations (microsurgical reattachment of amputated limbs) at Odense University Hospital. He improved his clinical experience at Sydney Hospital, Australia and completed a clinical fellowship with a full year (1998) of hands-on surgical training in hand and in particular wrist surgery.

In 2000 he became a Consultant at the Hand Surgery Department in Malmö, one of Europe largest hand surgery centers.

He has a broad background in hand surgery, and has specialized in microsurgery and in particular in wrist arthroscopy and minimal invasive procedures for minor hand surgery procedures. He has 25 years experience in endoscopic and arthroscopic hand surgery and has performed many thousand of these procedures.

Wrist surgery remains his main field of interest and he has developed a special technique for arthroscopic treatment of carpal fractures.

In 2015 he defended his doctoral thesis: “Scaphoid fractures. Epidemiology, diagnosis and treatment” at Lund University in Sweden.

He has published more than 40 papers in peer-reviewed journals and 7 book chapters and has been involved in numerous international courses in hand fracture surgery and arthroscopic wrist surgery during the last decade. He has been invited speaker for international conferences several times a year since presenting his thesis. Every second year he is chair of Nordic Wrist Arthroscopy Course in Copenhagen. His current research interests are clinical studies of carpal fractures and outcome studies in endoscopic carpal tunnel release.
