Examination: Heart Package
We offer two different heart examinations, which we call: the Basic Heart Package and the Extended Heart Package. The Heart Package can be used to assess you if you are experiencing chest pain or discomfort and suspect you may have a heart condition. We will carry out a thorough examination of your heart and help you find the right treatment. Our cardiologists are ready to help you within a short time.
What you need to know about the heart packages
Many symptoms may warrant a heart examination. If you experience symptoms of heart disease, this can be a cause of great concern for both you and your family. That is why it is important that you undergo a thorough examination.
With our basic packages, we can assess you for heart rhythm disorders, chest pain, suspected heart failure, suspected arteriosclerosis and heart valve disease.
Only the exercise stress test (bike test) requires preparation: To ensure the test is successful, it is important that:
- You have not smoked in the last 2 hours before the test;
- You have not eaten a large meal within 2 hours of the test. However, you may have a piece of bread, some fruit, and a cup of tea or coffee;
- You have preferably not taken any nitroglycerine preparations in the two hours before the examination;
- Your footwear and clothing are suitable for cycling.
We offer two different heart examinations, both of which include a consultation, blood pressure measurement and, if necessary, blood tests.
The Basic Heart Package also includes either an echocardiogram or an exercise stress test.
The Extended Heart Package includes both an echocardiogram and an exercise stress test.
In addition, we offer the following supplementary examinations:
- Holter monitoring
- 24-hour blood pressure monitoring
The examinations are carried out by a cardiologist and a nurse.
A cardiac examination is expected to take approximately 45 minutes in total.
Echocardiography – an ultrasound scan of the heart
An ultrasound scan provides a clear image of the heart, allowing the heart valves and its pumping function to be assessed. No preparation is required for this examination. The examination is carried out whilst lying on your left side with your upper body bare. The cardiologist will apply a small amount of gel to the skin around the heart area and uses an ultrasound probe to scan your heart.
Exercise stress test (bike test)
In the past, exercise stress tests (bike tests) were used when heart rhythm disorders were suspected that could be triggered by physical exertion – for example, during exercise or strenuous work. An exercise stress test can also be used to assess your ability to cope with physical exertion. This may be relevant if you need to renew your motor racing licence or have your pilot’s licence renewed. In certain cases, it may also be a requirement for approval to work offshore or in the wind turbine industry.
