Hip and groin loin pain is more prevalent in athletes; however, pain in the hip and groin area regions is also frequent in non-athletes and may occur during day-to-day activities.

Hip and groin pain originating from the hip joint may arise due to:

  • An imbalance in the muscles around the hip joint
  • Hip labral tear
  • Bone spur on the acetabular edge or the femoral neck  - FAI impingement (femoroacetabular impingement)
  • Cartilage damage to the hip socket or the femoral head
  • Internal snapping hip (inflamed hip flexor)
  • External snapping hip (inflamed iliotibial band)
  • Inflamed/strained gluteus insertion

All hip arthroscopies are carried out at Private Hospital Molholm by Bent Lund, Chief Surgeon and orthopaedic surgery specialist.
